NEW BUILD | 340m²
Completed August, 2018.
Proud winners of the Registered Master Builders Regional House of the Year 2019 Awards
This low-slung modernist structure was designed as a retreat for the entire family, with floor-to-ceiling glass and decking to frame the water and mountain views front and back.
Don’t be fooled by the minimalist first impression. The challenge of the unseen detail demanded skilled craftsmanship. If you pay attention, the 340sqm floor plan screams detail. Crafted clean lines are everywhere – no conventional finishings, recessed curtain tracks, seamless window/door junctions, even a garage door with no jamb, and utilities screened behind sliding steps!
A pop-top roof floats above this one-level structure and is a dominant architectural feature that executes form and function. Internally it allows natural light into internal bathrooms and a soaring living space. Such expansiveness is only achieved with substantial engineering. Elevated at 4metres and spanning 12metres, there is enough steel in this structure to rival Superman’s title.
Externally, the pop-top is an understated final design feature. Its low-profiled parapet is the result of a drape curved, colorsteel roof (an “alternative” and creative solution). There are no joins or ridges. Equally impressive is the double torch-on membrane roof across an area of 280sqm, The builders had to consider pitch, fall, drainage, and a plywood substrate install during winter.
A stunning project where the statement “more than meets the eye” rings true.
